Parenting Workshop

Emotional regulation is a concept getting a lot of attention these days. People everywhere—from parenting coaches to adult psychologists—are extolling the importance of emotional regulation. But, what does it actually mean to emotionally regulate? What does it look like in a young child? And, perhaps most importantly, how can parents cultivate this essential skill in their children?

This workshop, designed for parents of children aged 3 and 4, guides participants in an exploration of emotional regulation and co-regulation through a play therapy lens. We cover developmental considerations, physiological mechanisms of emotion regulation, the value of co-regulation, and tips for remaining regulated ourselves through the most challenging of emotional storms.

This workshop, much like the process of instilling emotional safety in our children, relies on two-way communication, so come with your questions, worries, and frustrations. Following the presentational portion, parents will have an opportunity to discuss the content, share experiences, and receive feedback from the facilitator.
