At Chaya Mushka Children's House, we maintain a high standard of AKC (Atlanta Kashruth Commission) kosher. To make things easier for our families, we've compiled a list of trusted local resources for birthday celebrations, Shabbat parties, lunches, and everyday shopping.

AKC (Atlanta Kashruth Commission) is the kosher certification agency that supervises and certifies food establishments throughout the Atlanta area. At CMCH, all food brought into the school, including birthday treats, Shabbat snacks, and catered items, must be certified kosher by the AKC. Look for the AKC symbol on packaged foods or purchase from one of the approved AKC-certified vendors listed below.

Birthday Celebrations

We love celebrating birthdays at CMCH!

Please remember:

  • Birthday treats must be store-bought, pareve, and AKC-certified.

  • Approved birthday treats include cakes, cookie cakes, or cupcakes from the listed vendors below

  • All food must be brought to the office before the celebration to receive an approval sticker before being served.

Packing Lunches From Home

Families who are not participating in our hot lunch program, please help us by following the guidelines below:

Please help us maintain a healthy learning environment by packing:

  • Fresh fruits and vegetables

  • Whole grains

  • Healthy proteins

  • Nutritious snacks

Please avoid:

  • Candy

  • Gum

  • Desserts

  • Sugary treats

  • Artificial food coloring whenever possible

  • Highly processed snack foods

Children should also arrive having already finished breakfast before coming to school.

To match our school lunch program:

Monday • Wednesday • Friday

  • Dairy or Pareve lunches only

Tuesday • Thursday

  • Meat lunches permitted

Please also be mindful of food allergies within your child's classroom. Families will be notified of any classroom allergies prior to Orientation. We appreciate your partnership in helping keep every child safe.
