Bringing Yom Tov to Life

Dear Parents,

The Sukkot holiday is upon us, and as I reflect on this full holiday season at preschool, I am so proud of our staff and the thought they have put into preparing for each Yom Tov.

There has been so much attention and intention given to creating experiential learning opportunities that truly bring the holidays to life. Our Judaic and General Studies teachers have been working closely together to explore each subject from different angles, creating beautiful tray works, cooking and baking with the children, and even bringing in special guests to deepen their learning.

For Rosh Hashanah, Rowyn’s Bubby, Jan, who is a beekeeper, joined us for a fully engaging presentation about beehives and honey. The children had wonderful questions and loved every minute of it! Morah Rivky also had her husband bring in a chicken so she could demonstrate Kapparot for our Primary children. These kinds of experiences are treasures, and I especially love that our teachers have taken the initiative to arrange them independently.

The classroom works being created with Morah Miri’s guidance have also been phenomenal. We’ve seen Sukkah sensory bins, beehives and hexagon works on trays, apple polls comparing favorite tastes and colors, wonderful cooking and baking, loose-parts Sukkah building, and so much more. I’m looking forward to seeing this kind of thoughtful, hands-on learning continue throughout the year.

Our new Parsha materials have also been arriving, and I can’t wait to see the beautiful works and learning experiences our teachers create with them.

Kudos to all of our Morahs for the creativity, thought, and care you continue to pour into our curriculum. You are truly making us proud!

Wishing each of you a joyous Sukkot. We look forward to celebrating together at our Pizza in the Hut family fun day, as well as the Simchat Torah children’s festivities at CBT. We hope you’ll join us!
